Discovering the World of Creative Industries: HSE High School Students Visited IRKI
How to Turn a Creative Hobby into a Future Career and What Opportunities Do Creative Industries Offer?
Students from the HSE Lyceum sought answers to these questions during a visit to the Institute for the Development of Creative Industries. The event brought together schoolchildren, teachers, and students from the bachelor’s program «Management in Creative Industries,» creating a platform for open dialogue, idea exchange, and familiarization with the university environment.The meeting was opened by Natalia Platonova, Professor at the HSE Faculty of Creative Industries, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation, and Olga Vapnyarskaya, Deputy Director of the Institute for the Development of Creative Industries and Academic Advisor for the Master’s program «Management in Creative Industries.»The participants learned about the Institute’s activities and discussed why creative industries encompass not only creativity but also entrepreneurship, technology, management, and product development. The conversation quickly evolved into a vibrant discussion: the lyceum students asked questions, shared their own ideas, debated the prospects of various fields, and discovered unexpected insights.The lecture by Alexander Baru was of particular interest to the high school students. The expert has been recognized three times by the «Kommersant» publishing house and the Association of Russian Managers as the best marketing director in the financial sector. He shared his professional journey, discussed the specifics of working in creative industries, and highlighted the opportunities available to young specialists. His presentation helped the students look at their future career choices in a new light, understanding the importance of initiative, creative thinking, and the willingness to try different fields.The most unexpected moment of the event was a small rock concert: Alexander Baru switched from speaker to musician and played drums for the high school students.
