01 / TWO MINDS, ONE SHARED VISION
We are Amalia Vulf and Alexandra Chuychenko. Working together on creative projects, we discovered a shared ambition to build something beyond individual productions. This led us to establish THE FOLIO, an independent creative agency focused on shaping distinctive visual worlds for fashion and lifestyle brands.Through this portfolio, we invite you to explore our thinking, creative methodology and selected work, from academic projects to commercial campaigns. Each project reveals how we approach the relationship between a brand’s identity and its visual expression.

02 / THE CHALLENGE
What makes a brand truly recognizable?
In an increasingly crowded visual landscape, fashion brands invest in campaigns, photography and content, yet often struggle to build a consistent identity. Individual projects may look compelling, but without a clear creative direction, they fail to form a recognizable visual language. For emerging brands, the challenge is defining that identity. For established ones, it is maintaining relevance while staying true to their character.
This raises a question: how can creative decisions become more intentional, consistent and aligned with a brand’s goals?
03 / UNIQUE SOLUTION
How can we create a systematic approach that addresses this challenge?
FORMULA:
CONCEPT (30%) + HERO (15%) + VISUAL TOOLS (30%) + EMOTION (15%) + CHANNEL (10%)
To answer this question, we developed our own Visual Storytelling Verification Formula, a framework designed to evaluate the effectiveness of creative concepts through five weighted criteria. We analysed campaigns from 21 Russian fashion brands and conducted surveys with industry experts to validate our approach. Their feedback supported the formula’s relevance and practical applicability, making it a key competitive advantage of The Folio.Today, this research-driven methodology forms the foundation of our creative process, helping us make informed decisions and develop coherent visual narratives that reflect each brand’s identity.
Next, we demonstrate how our method works in practice,
from an academic project to real client campaigns.

04 / OUR METHOD IN PRACTICE

A methodology gains its value through the work it shapes.
Our approach is built around a simple principle: every creative decision should serve a purpose. The following projects demonstrate how we translate brand challenges into distinctive visual narratives, balancing artistic vision with strategic thinking. We begin with RUBAN, an academic project exploring storytelling through a trilogy of fashion editorials, and continue with LETORA, a series of commercial campaigns developed for a real client.
RUBAN — A VISUAL TRILOGY
RUBAN’s identity is deeply rooted in couture craftsmanship, ballet and theatrical aesthetics. Our challenge was to uncover the brand’s defining characteristics and translate them into a cohesive editorial narrative for In Folio magazine.
Discover more about IN FOLIO:
Using our Visual Storytelling Verification Formula, we explored the brand’s identity, identified its key visual codes and developed a creative direction built around three interconnected perspectives. As the central character plays an important role in our methodology, we placed real people and their stories at the heart of the first two editorials.

We created a visual trilogy tracing the journey from craftsmanship to movement and artistic interpretation. The first editorial features RUBAN co-founder Alisa Ruban at the brand’s production site, with photographs accompanying an interview about her creative vision and couture craftsmanship.

The second centres on a ballerina, a long-time friend and client of the brand who collaborated with RUBAN on balletwear. Photographed in a dance studio, she brings together the worlds of fashion and ballet in an interview-led story.

The third transforms ballet into a conceptual studio editorial, where couture silhouettes and expressive poses become the language of visual storytelling.

The trilogy became a cohesive editorial story for In Folio, revealing RUBAN’s identity through craftsmanship, movement and artistic expression. The project demonstrates our ability to identify a brand’s defining visual codes and translate them into a unified narrative across different editorial formats.
