Race for Space

After nearly three decades of diligent design and construction, the station opens. Its capacity includes 2,000 residential spots for the station’s operational staff and over 10,000 for residents and future racers!

Specialists from all disciplines, young families, and children are invited to participate—the first generation of championship racers. This is intended so that the body can adapt and toughen itself from a young age in conditions similar to those of space.

During the global broadcast, Adrian Hope announced the grand prize for the champion: «The winner will travel into space!»

Race For Space takes place in open water around the «Vityaz 2.0» station.

Unlike car races, the course here is not a flat circuit, although it maintains segmented sections for high-speed zones and technically challenging maneuvers.

The route is a three-dimensional corridor marked by navigation gates, lighted buoys, and control points.

After several rapid changes in altitude, the pilot may experience:

— ear and sinus pressure;— decreased concentration;— brief disorientation;— altered sense of speed;— difficulty judging the car’s position relative to the horizon.

The system is not designed to fully compensate for pressure changes: regulations require the pilot to feel a portion of the load. This rule helps train the body and adapt it to an environment where the lives of an entire crew depend on the pilot.

Mistakes are closely monitored by the CSS committee, which is responsible for the regulations and their enforcement by the racers.Missed a checkpoint — the lap is voided.Cut a vertical section — a penalty.Lost orientation upon exiting the immersion — the next turn meets you with highly professional indifference.

The team is given space for engineering solutions, but the key parameters are strictly limited. Otherwise, the engineers will build a guided torpedo in about three seasons and call it a sports car.
