Virtual greeting cards are a controversial phenomenon prevalent on social media, particularly within the WhatsApp messenger. People wish each other good morning or celebrate birthdays using images that carry no individual meaning. This method of maintaining connection does nothing to deepen or develop relationships, instead creating an endless stream of empty dialogues characterized by the forwarding of identical images.
In my project, I want to visualize the archetype of this depersonalized online communication method using drypoint etching and imbue digital detritus with value.
